Visa number retrogression has no basis in the number of I 485s received. It is based on the number approved.
In the current melee, it will be a huge number of 485s applied, it does not mean the 485s will be approved any quicker.
Hence I am not sure where you all are getting these rumors from.

What's your choice? Home Country and Canada. The choice isn't between US and Canada. If you had an option to live in US you wouldn't be talking about canada.
If you compare US to canada you are all set for disappointment. The taxes are higher and jobs are definitely harder to find. Eveything is a little more expensive compared to US. (If you look at books CDN prices are always higher). But on the other hand, houses are way cheaper. What cost 600 K in SF Bay Area costs 350 K in Toronto suburb.
Canada still has a higher standard of living than Europe/Australia. I recently met someone who's been in Canada for 40 years and he told me that the highest tax bracket is 35%. It used to be 45% about 10 years ago.
Anyway, compare with going back home not US.

In my opinion MMS may be a nice person and may be a good economist, but it wasn't him who was running the govt. and it will not be him if he comes back again. It is a very common practice in India, a chemist will run a chemist shop but the License is in somebody else's name. Here also same thing happened, you saw Manmohan Singh on PM's chair, but it was somebody else who was running the show, and it is deception & dishonesty to your voters. It'll be the whole cabinet, most what was during Vajpayee govt. which was much cleaner & much more agressive on developmental issues, they worked on certain agendas, lot of places where you see growth, were actually the good work done by the NDA govt. You may praise Laloo for all the Railway turn around, but the reality is the foundation was layed by then Railway Minister "Nitish Kumar", AI/AI became profitable under "Rajiv Pratap Rudy" . I know its not easy or possible in USA to get a Immigration officer to make some scene deliberately at airport . Here is what i observed .
He was in CA a month back june/july for his movie shoot nothing popped that time.
But he signed a 100 crore INR deal with FOX for his Forth coming movie My Name is Khan i think couple of weeks back dose it tell something ?
So with this incident he is on Top 10 news in CNN today - Btw this news was at number 7 few hours back and now number 2.
Nice way to create awareness of Shah Rukh Khan and the Movie.

Doing it in the lat quarter could cuase visa wastage especially this year where it is anticiapted that there will be lot of spill over numbers.
Now, with vast majority (if not almost all) of 07 petitions pre-adjudicated and waiting for visa #s for approvals, it is hard for uscis to wait up-to-end-of-the-year for spill over. Current economy only suggest fewer GC applicants in 09 and 2010

It's not about showing resentment. Being able to protest is a fundamental right in a democracy, unlike a dictatorship which essentially the LTTE is. We do that everyday in India, America and other democratic setups. It's quite clear that you don't understand the basic concept of a pluralistic democracy that India and America stand for. To see what's wrong with what you said, let me quote you back :

I do have properties and business properties in India from before I came to US. I don't want to make this personal by naming the IT businesses I sold but am sure if you are from 90's and from India you are aware of those names.
I have sold those one by one, and that is another line buddy. Capital Assets Line. IT Enquiry Lines, Company liquidation issues (specially if you were a LTD. company), Commerical Property Tribunals, Service Tax lines, State Tax Issues, Central Sales Tax issues. And god forbid if there is a lawsuit filed.
And yes I am in GC line for 8 years and i dont mind another 2-3 years. This is the Last line hopefully other than immigration line at India every year. (which is painful for Indian Citizens) but easy for PIO's and Non Citizens.

By the way I am not supporting the LTTE. Here the question is should Indian govt support the civilions or not. Given a chance the SL govt wants to wipe out the entire tamil community. Do not think it will not happen to you/us here tomorrow.
