Well, I'm paying 20 a year for a service in which I have unlimited e-mail addresses, unlimited bandwidth, .net -domain, unlimited subdomains, SQL, php + cgi and 1 GB of storage etc. That 99 for .Mac doesn't cut it.. Of course I don't have .Mac synchronisation, but I've been doing fine with my bluetooth enabled phone.

I agree on the copying for own use. You should not be limited on something you have purchased. But you put 'profit' at the end of your 'list' that to me means you also sell the copies.
If he had just put "profit" that would be a fair judgemnt.
But that's not exactly what he said. The actual quote is:
"3) ????? 4) PROFIT!"
That's different. It's an old joke. I guess you've never seen it before.

The IT department won't want macs, it will put people like me out of a job.
I see a lot of BS in this thread and a lot of people pretending to be IT who aren't. As far as someone saying windows server 2008 is rock solid...I completely disagree.
And whoever thinks Dell has great enterprise support I absolutely 100% disagree. Their support is freaking terrible and I love how they try and claim that they can't cover servers under warranty if the server is at an APO address. Dell is too stupid to realize any APO address, regardless of where it is at in the world is U.S. soil. /rant
Anyway OP, windows generally dominates the enterprise world but it doesn't mean macs can't be used.
While I haven't liked Dell enterprise support, they have been good for what we need. We have 7 Dell Poweredge servers and NONE of them have had problems since we have had them. Some as old as 4 years old.
Windows 2008 Server has been pretty stable for us with less issues vs Windows 2003. I would say it's a very stable O/S. As we rarely have to restart the boxes for issues, it's usually just for updates.
Now where I hate Microsoft is in Exchange 2010. Exchange everything was built into AD so you could add users in the same AD area and it would add them to Exchange from there. Now with 2007 and it is separate. You have to add the user in AD, then you must open your Exchange Manager, and add the user to a mailbox there. Or go through Exchange to add the user in that program which will add him to AD but without the security rights of a user if you wish to copy that person.

1) Never work with a friend of a friend.
2) Never work for free.
3) Never work for a start up business UNLESS it has a larger group behind it (Public/private equity group, blue chip client with a new business, etc.. is ok).
4) Never do work for a religious organisation (seriously not a good idea). Or for that matter a union...
5) If you lie with dogs you'll get fle<b>a</b>s. Never work on a project you wouldn't want other clients seeing as a client of yours on your Portfolio.
6) Never work with a company where they can't speak your native language... Cheque time comes and "miso soli me no undastandy".
7) Be choosy about who you want to work with. Talented designers will always find work while talentless designers wont.
[8] I found in experience if you price yourself a certain way you tend to loose the "bottom feeding clients" as I like to call them. It also means the people who take up the service generally understand the price positioning thus have an idea of intrinsic value assigned to it.

I'm guessing this is sarcasm.
It is a toy. You can't seriously think that professionals are going to depend on Photoshop for iPad and throw away their computer can you? That's like throwing away your computer because GarageBand is also available on the iPad, and attempting to produce an album on an iPad. Impossible.
No matter what Steve says, it is a toy! I think it is brilliant you can do these things on such a simple product for the average user, but they are nothing more than for... the average user.
+1 I know I won't.
If it had a fully functional lightroom.. thats another story.

Making parts is one thing, we can all make parts, we can all go into our garage and make a random widget. We can make hundreds of those widgets.
But - here is the kicker -
We need someone to buy those widgets.
If no one buys the widgets, we can't make the widgets, and in this scenario Apple sell the widget to the end user. The game is with Apple, not the parts supplier.
Good luck making the parts Apple need in your garage.

I've been keeping an eye on the refurbished displays section of the Apple Store and was surprised to see the 2nd item in the attached screenshot this evening.
I wonder where Apple found these. This is model M9179LL/A, discontinued in 2006 according to Mactracker.

Also just FYI, keep in mind the power consumption.
"The original PS3 model will use about 200 Watts while running Folding@home. A later model PS3 (with a 40 GB hard drive) will use about 115 Watts."
So, either 1 or 2 big light bulbs if you wanna look at it that way.
Well im at school so it would be using there power :) Do these tasks kinda lock the PS3 down for a specific amount of time or what?

I love the play by play given on the homepage here, but I rather prefer the video edition provided on itunes- does anyone remember from last year how long it took after the keynote was given before it was posted on iTunes?

I was actually going to start a thread just like this! Great idea for a thread.
Here's my list ... and yes, all of this is FREE (I read the name of the thread). ;) :D
WireTap (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/freebies/)
Records ANY audio being played through your Mac. Absolutely ... anything. Very nice, simple interface as well.
Streamripper (http://streamripperx.sourceforge.net/)
Records songs playing through an internet radio station as individual mp3s. Keeps all the mp3s nice and neat and named for you, in a folder that you specify. Great way to discover new music / artists.
Newsfire (http://www.newsfirerss.com/)
The best RSS newsreader for the Mac I've tried.
Quicksilver (http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/)
Hard to explain, you just need to download it.
Meteorologist (http://heat-meteo.sourceforge.net/)
Best weather utility I've used for the Mac. Stays up in the top right corner of your menu bar, where it displays an icon representing the current weather (ie, raindrops), the location, and the temperature (mine says [Sun icon] Home 62). Click on it to get an extended forecast and more info.
Genius (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21353)
A must-have for students who use flashcards to review. Tracks your progress, quizzes you, teaches you.
iTunes Monitor (http://www.ebyss.net/pages/software.html)
Lets you know who's listening to your iTunes music on the LAN, as well as what they're listening to.

Does anyone here remember all the doom and gloom when Avie Tevanian left in 2006? People were saying it was the end of Mac OS X.
Serlet did a nice job moving the platform forward. Here's wishing Mr. Federighi the best.

Not sure if this is even a jb problem or not, but I'm on 4.3.2 untethered.
Anyway yesterday my phone icon was grayed out, rebooted, was fine. Today its safari. Either way, the respective programs worked to full capability as far as I know... was just curious if anybody knows why they are grayed out/see thru/dim, or if anybody else has been experiencing too?
